Wael Assal

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

My name is Wael Assal. I am an Information Security SME that graduated from Communication and Electronic physics at the University of Alexandria. I am a passionate volunteer that loves to help out in my community. I enjoy communicating with people from different cultures and backgrounds. I have learned a lot from life and the challenges that have come along my way. It was not easy for me to overcome them but I love new challenges and I am always looking for new adventures. I am a proud father, husband, son, and Egyptian. Canada became my second home, since then I learned that volunteer work is not limited to single young youth but rather everyone who is interested to do something for the sake of Allah. I would love to continue my record of success within ISNA and hope to grow my expertise as a board member.

Biography

From a community serving perspective, I believe that there is a great value in collaboration, hence I joined multiple organizations (ISNA, MAC, SAV) to serve my Muslim community. Through these organizations, I helped my Syrian brothers and sisters during the early stages of their settlement, led a Quran center, and served the Canadian community through food distribution, and through outdoor activities. I have also joined the COVID-19 team to support my community, distributed gifts to my neighbors in Eid, and joined the ISNA dawah team.

In Shaa Allah as a board member, I plan to respect the laws and bylaws executed by the board and the organization. I will In Shaa Allah strive to give our youth a chance to be more involved at ISNA while respecting our senior members. I want our youth to find ISNA a place where they can hang out while enjoying their time, learning about their religion, and helping their senior brothers
and sisters. I want our community members to be able to voice their concerns, interests, and needs without the fear of being judged. I want to build a bridge between Muslims and the rest of
our society. I will strive to work with excellence to bring love, respect, collaboration, and engagement to ISNA.

Volunteering has definitely become an essential part of my life. I hope to continue following our Prophet’s legacy by being an active board member in ISNA.

Jazakum Allahu Khairan
