Michael Singh is a seasoned technology executive and community leader with over 20 years of international experience in IT consultancy and senior leadership. He has guided organizations through complex transformations, delivering strategic clarity and resilient governance.

From 2018 to 2024, Michael served on ISNA Canadaโs Board of Directors, including as Vice Chair and Acting Chair. During this tenure, he was entrusted with some of the most challenging portfolios, helping steer the organization through a turbulent but transformational era. His leadership spanned multiple rounds of strategic planning, navigating a CRA audit and temporary charitable status revocation, managing the organizationโs COVID-19 response (including rapid prototyping of prayer reservation systems), settling legacy debts around the Islamic Centre of Canada, reshaping ISNAโs bylaws, addressing banking and financial organization challenges, responding to a subsequent CRA review, and advancing the development of the Islamic Centre of Yellowknife.
Michaelโs longstanding volunteerism with ISNA Food Bank and his professional expertise in governance, technology, and strategy demonstrate his ability to balance grassroots service with institutional leadership. As a father of two, he is deeply committed to ensuring that ISNA continues to grow as a strong, accountable, and visionary institution for future generations.
My candidacy for the ISNA Canada Board is rooted in both deep experience and an unwavering commitment to ISNAโs mission. Having served on the Board from 2018 to 2024 ( including as Vice Chair and Acting Chair ) I have had the privilege of serving ISNA through one of the most transformational and turbulent eras in its history.
During my tenure, I was often given the most difficult portfolios, where problem solving and decisive leadership were critical. I worked alongside fellow Board members to develop three rounds of ISNAโs strategic plan, navigate a CRA audit and temporary charitable status revocation, and address complex financial and banking challenges. We lived through COVID-19, and helped the organizationโs COVID-19 response by rapidly prototyping secure prayer reservation systems, ensuring congregational safety while maintaining access to religious services.
Additionally, I played a key role in settling legacy debts around the Islamic Centre of Canada, advancing much-needed bylaw reforms, responding to a subsequent CRA review, and supporting the vision to re-establish the Islamic Centre of Yellowknife. These experiences not only tested but strengthened my resolve to uphold governance, transparency, and accountability at every step.
Professionally, I bring more than two decades of senior leadership in technology, governance, and organizational strategy, where I have managed multimillion-dollar budgets and delivered outcomes for complex organizations. Personally, as a father of two young boys born during my ISNA service, I feel deeply the responsibility to build institutions that future generations can trust and be proud of.
I will continue to bring my skills, my problem-solving mindset, and my dedication to help ISNA Canada remain resilient, united, and forward-looking in the face of todayโs challenges.
