34th
Annual ISNA Canada Convention
Preamble
The
theme of this year's convention - Our Youth, Our Future: The Path to Paradise
- was chosen to address new concerns and opportunities for Canadian Muslim youth. The Islamic perspective views our future with an aim to achieve success in this life and the Hereafter. It is essential for us to engage in the Canadian society but without sacrificing our Islamic identity and outlook. The ultimate striving, however, is seeking the pleasure of Allah (SWT) and following the path to Jannah (Paradise). This may not be obvious to our Canadian friends, but our Da'wah needs to project this Islamic being in the world, consistently, and without hesitation.
A prominent place was given to theoretical issues such as Muslim identity, marriage in Islam, cultural clash, and lessons from Surah Yusuf.
The spiritual dimension was covered in discussions of the Day of Judgement, Jannah (Paradise), and closeness to Allah (SWT).
In terms of new concerns, topics on religious extremism, vices such as promiscuity and drugs, and Islamic commitment to counteract both extremism and loss of Islamic identity were chosen.
In terms of new opportunities, we chose topics dealing with education as empowerment, the increasing influence and positive role of Muslim women, and strengthening our bonds with the Muslim World.
MSA and MYNA also have programs which provide a variety of topics of interest to young people.
The Program Committee hopes that you will Insha-Allah find this program interesting, relevant, and inspiring.
